Marya Lynn competes in Nationwide Kayak Bass Fishing Tournaments and is a full time Kayak Angler & Content Creator.

She grew up in Spartanburg, SC, and none of her family did the fishing thing. She wasn’t a fishing type of girl, and preferred high heels and manicures. Her husband, however, has always enjoyed fishing, and in 2018 Marya decided to go kayaking with him. She figured that she could read a book and get a tan while he was fishing. One day Marya was “tricked” into holding a fishing pole, and somehow managed to catch her first fish! It was “love at first bite”! Fishing just came naturally to her and she’s been hooked ever since. From shell crackers, long nose gar, perch, chained pickerel, a 38 pound blue catfish, and all types of bass, kayak fishing has become her lifestyle. In 2020 Marya even quit her job as a Psychiatric Patient Care Manager to become a full time Kayak Angler & Content Creator. That same year she fished in her very first tournament and won Big Fish by landing a 24” largemouth bass. Later that year, she also received the 2020 Georgia Angler Award for a Smallmouth that she caught in the Savannah River.

Over the past few years her life has evolved from ‘manicures & pedicures’ to ‘fishingcures’ . She shares her fishing adventures on social media, hoping that others may one day experience the joy and healing that she’s found during her time on the waters.
