about SO FLY FLIES
So Fly Flies is led by tyer Caiden Jenkins of Hampstead, NC. He loves redfish and creating the perfect piece to finish the job. He started tying in 2020 during COVID and taught himself everything he knows. He only uses his own flies and has had great results so far!
Fly fishing is Caiden’s passion…specifically redfish. To him, they truly are the perfect game fish; whether they are crawling in inches of water or tailing in flooded grass, he can’t get enough and will always be up for the hunt. Caiden is currently working to become a full-time guide in 2023 so he can share his passion and knowledge with others everyday.
WHY DO YOU TIE?
I tie because I love creating that perfect piece to present to the fish and I feel it is almost disrespectful to give something simple and sloppy to a fish to eat.
what ARE YOU THROWING?
The Skrimpy Gurgler is an awesome super effective gurgler pattern, I don't use thick foam or double anything over. I like the gurgler to cast easier and sit lower in the water to avoid blowouts from fish which gives you a lot more hookups. When the water started to clear up and fish start to school I like to go to a more subtle presentation and long thin leaders when they get really picky, a lot of times it's the presentation…not the fly itself.
